I don't really have a 'go-to' outfit, so this morning I simply put on the first thing I picked up. Spontaneous, potentially risky - but I think sometimes that's the best way to go if you're wanting to achieve an effortless yet put together look. My favourite season is Autumn; I absolutely adore wrapping up in scarves, gloves, layers upon layers of jumpers and tops and a big fluffy coat but for some reason this October is warmer than any other Summer I've experienced in the UK.
A jacket obsession has developed this last year, and I bought this brown suede biker jacket from New Look a couple of weeks ago to add to my ever growing beige coat collection. It's SO fluffy and warm and I deliberately bought it slightly oversized for comfort (and also it looks GREAT with a high waisted skirt because the hem lengths are pretty much the same).

This grey top is from New Look - in fact most of this outfit is. I'm definitely a fan of New Look although it currently appears to be going through strong and weak phases. Some days I'll go in and want absolutely everything and other days I can't even find a sock that I like. I bought this on a particular day that I was skipping around the shop in absolute euphoria and was picking up hangers left, right and centre. It's a really simple, high neck, ribbed, sleeveless top with a slight glitter sewn into it. I'm a HUGE fan of high neck tops and jumpers to the point I feel slightly weird in anything different.

I love wearing jeans but only seem to wear these Leighs from Topshop at the moment - I tend to go through phases with jeans and will wear the same pair every day until I get bored of them and buy some more. As with almost every girl my age I did go through the Joni obsession and have now come to regret it. I'm Leigh forever. They're slightly high waisted, still have a denim feel to them (cough, Joni) and are super duper soft and comfortable. The deep blue colour of them also means that they go with almost everything - a definite everyday item.

My autumn staple outfit of course involves layers, layers in autumn/winter are an essential for me as I fluctuate between hot and cold frequently. So for this outfit I decided to use my favourite item from my wardrobe which is my Topshop tight leather/ denim skirt and pair it with a contrasting baggy oversized top. With my outfits I also like to include either an element of white or a pop of colour to break up an entirely black outfit, for this I used a relatively new addition to my wardrobe which is my red faintly patterned top. For autumn a black small heeled boot is a necessity for me as it finishes off any outfit and adds an element of class even to a quite casual outfit, without the addition of my boots my outfit didn't feel completed. For this outfit I kept it very minimalistic and didn't add many accessories due to the biker style of my coat which is a another staple for me and has featured in my wardrobe for many years.
My go to outfit this autumn would have to be my go to outfit of all time - jeans and a jumper. The Topshop Jamie jeans have to got to be my all time favourite item of clothing all year round; they're comfy and versatile and can be dressed up or dressed down. The key to this outfit is the mixture of textures, and the white vest which breaks up the all black ensemble. I kept my accessories classic, a black bag, a statement watch, and a cute little pom pom.

My go-to outfit for casual day-to-day wear can vary. However, for autumn months such as these, nothing beats a good old pair of black skinny jeans and zipped brown suede boots. Accompanied with these, I do enjoy swapping and changing my upper half, with baggy shirts and jumpers to name a few choices. These are my typical comfortable picks for the fast approaching cold weather.
Jackets and coats are important to complete a look, as well as the accessories applied to the ensemble. Materials including wool and cotton adhere well to these temperatures, with deep natural tones blending well to complete an aesthetically pleasing visual look. Lighter materials such as Leather and Polyester can also work well. My go-to outfit for this post includes a Leather bomber-style jacket, but my trench coat is never far out of reach in the wardrobe.
Personally, I feel large, bold accessories work the best in Autumn, as well as in the Winter. With smaller, more petite ones working best with warmer climates and seasons of fashion. A bag and hat are my favourite picks. Sometimes both together, and sometimes separately, depending on the look I am trying to achieve at that time. I am pictured below wearing both.
